2015 election defeat: Atiku and Obasanjo’s exit not the cause – PDP

 atiks - 2015 election defeat: Atiku and Obasanjo's exit not the cause - PDP

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has denied reports that their defeat at the 2015 polls was due to the departures of Ex-president, Olusegun Obasanjo and ex-vice president, Atiku Abubakar.

In a recent statement by the National Organising Secretary of the National Caretaker Committee (NCC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Abdul Ningi, Obasanjo and Atiku’s exit from the party was not responsible for the party’s failure in 2015.

 While issuing a nomination form for the Anambra guber elections holding in November to Dr. Alex Obiogbolu on Tuesday, He said;
“We said one of our cardinal principles is that PDP is not a one-man party. This party has individuals that left beginning with Obasanjo, Atiku, and President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua died.That has been our plight.

This party can do without a single individual or groups of individuals. Five of our governors left, we were wounded but not defeated, and we are rising up from ashes of those who have left.We are also happy that the crisis has given us the opportunity to look inwards, to look at mistakes, look at where we went wrong and try to make amends.

 This party has also left it doors open for those who have left to come back because PDP is their natural turf. A lot of them have discovered that where it matters is this party.”
